Celebrating Catholic Education Week

Catholic Education Week 2026 will be celebrated from 25 – 29 May 2025.

Peace be with you all (Romans 15:33) 

Catholic Education Week 2026 invites our communities to reflect on the theme “Peace be with you all”, drawn from St Paul’s letter to the Romans. These simple yet profound words are both a blessing and a mission. They remind us that peace is a gift from God and a responsibility we share in bringing hope, compassion and understanding to our communities. 

St Paul’s message to the early Christian community in Rome was one of encouragement and unity. Writing to believers facing challenge and uncertainty, he reminded them that God is present among them and that peace is found in faith, trust and relationship with one another. 

Across the Diocese of Ballarat – from the Murray to the sea – our Catholic schools continue this same mission today. They are communities where faith, learning and belonging are nurtured, and where young people are encouraged to grow as people who seek understanding, build relationships and contribute positively to the world around them. 

The theme also echoes the first words spoken by Pope Leo XIV when he greeted the world in his first speech as Pontiff from the balcony of St Peter’s Basilica: “Peace be with you all.” In his address, he spoke of the peace of the Risen Christ – a peace that is humble, persevering and grounded in God’s unconditional love. He reminded the Church that we are called to walk together, to build bridges, and to remain close to those who need compassion and care. 

In our Catholic schools, this call to peace is lived out each day through learning, relationships and service. Students are encouraged to grow not only in knowledge, but also in empathy, respect and a commitment to the common good. Teachers and staff model the values of the Gospel, helping young people to become people of faith, hope and peace in their families and communities. 

As we celebrate Catholic Education Week 2026, we give thanks for the students, educators, leaders and families who together create communities where the peace of Christ is known and shared.
