Message from the Bishop

Across the Diocese of Ballarat, we are blessed with vibrant Catholic school communities where students are encouraged to grow in faith, learning and service. Our 51 primary schools and 11 secondary schools each have their own unique story and character, yet all share a common mission – to nurture the gifts of every young person and to build communities inspired by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Catholic education is about more than academic achievement. It is about forming young people who know they are valued, who understand their dignity as children of God, and who are encouraged to use their talents in the service of others. In our schools, students are invited to encounter Christ through prayer, learning, relationships and acts of compassion and justice.

I am deeply grateful for the dedication of principals, teachers, staff, clergy and families who work together to create school communities where young people can flourish. The strength of Catholic education in our diocese is found not only in our traditions, but in the care, generosity and hope that continue to shape the life of our schools each day.

As Bishop of Ballarat, I thank all those who contribute to the mission of Catholic education and I pray that our schools continue to be places of faith, wisdom, belonging and opportunity for every student.
