About the New School
A new Catholic primary school is taking shape in Winter Valley, one of Ballarat's fastest-growing communities. Designed to serve a growing population of young families, the school will be built on a foundation of Catholic faith, community and belonging.
Catholic identity will be visible, welcoming and central to the life of the school. Strong partnerships with families, parish and the wider community will help create an environment where every child can flourish.
The vision for the school embraces inclusion, diversity, wellbeing and respect for First Nations peoples and cultures. It also reflects a commitment to sustainability, outdoor learning and care for our common home, inspired by the principles of Laudato Si'. Above all, the school will foster a strong sense of place, connection and hope for future generations.
Located on Greenhalghs Road within the Ballarat West growth corridor, the school sits on Wadawurrung Country and will serve the growing communities of Winter Valley, Bonshaw, Delacombe and Smythes Creek.

We are seeking an inspiring and visionary Catholic leader to establish and lead a brand-new school community in one of Ballarat's fastest growing suburbs.
This is a rare opportunity to become the Founding Principal of a new Catholic Primary School, Winter Valley, opening in January 2028. The successful applicant will commence in the role of Principal in January 2027 and will play a pivotal role in shaping the vision, culture, identity and foundations of a school that will serve generations of students, families and the wider community.
As the first new Catholic primary school established in the Ballarat region in nearly a decade, this school represents a significant milestone for Catholic education. Grounded in Gospel values and inspired by the Diocese of Ballarat Catholic Education Limited (DOBCEL) Strategy 2035. This is not a traditional principalship.
