Welcome to Season 2 of Towards 2035, the podcast from the Diocese of Ballarat Catholic Education Limited.
Titled Inside the Engine Room, this season takes you closer to the work behind Strategy 2035 – where ideas are tested, learning is shared, and meaningful change begins to take shape.
Across the season, you’ll hear from leaders, educators and communities from across our system as we explore how Strategy 2035 is coming to life through collaboration, inquiry and action. These are the stories behind the strategy – the thinking, the testing, and the learning that are driving improvement in our schools.
Episode 1 – CIRPs 101: From Strategy to Action
The first episode of the season brings CIRPs back to basics.
In this conversation, Ruth Appleyard (Marketing and Communications Manager) is joined by Julia Petrov (Strategy Implementation Manager) and Tom Sexton (Executive Director) to unpack Collaborative Innovation Research Prototypes (CIRPs) – and why they matter now.
Together, they explore how CIRPs act as the engine of action and learning across the diocese, moving ideas beyond discussion and into real, testable change in schools. The episode provides a clear explanation of what a CIRP is, why prototyping is such an important approach right now, and the problems it is designed to solve. It also looks at what staff can expect to see, learn and achieve through their involvement, and how this work connects directly to Strategy 2035 priorities and system-wide improvement.
