Diocese of Ballarat Catholic Education Limited (DOBCEL) is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join our organisation as Manager – Policy, Risk & Assurance.
This is a significant leadership opportunity to shape and strengthen enterprise risk, policy and assurance practices across our system of 56 Catholic schools serving more than 13,000 students throughout regional Victoria.
About the Role
Reporting to the Deputy Director: Stewardship, the Manager – Policy, Risk & Assurance plays a critical role in safeguarding organisational integrity, strengthening governance frameworks and supporting a culture of proactive risk management.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading DOBCEL’s enterprise risk management framework, including risk appetite and reporting.
- Overseeing the development and review of system-wide policies and compliance frameworks.
- Providing high-level advice to senior leaders, Principals and the Board.
- Supporting the work of the Assurance & Risk Committee.
- Strengthening business continuity and emergency management planning.
- Leading and developing a specialist team focused on service excellence and accountability.
This role is central to ensuring our schools operate with confidence, clarity and strong stewardship in an increasingly complex regulatory environment.
About You
We are seeking a collaborative and strategic professional with:
- Senior experience in policy, governance, risk and assurance – ideally within education or similarly regulated sectors.
- Strong analytical capability and the ability to translate complex risk concepts into practical action.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- A commitment to values-driven leadership within Catholic education.
