Masterclass with Broadway Star Alex Bennett

Last week, our drama students had the incredible opportunity to participate in a masterclass with Broadway star Alex Bennett. Alex, known for his roles in hit musicals such as "The Phantom of the Opera" and "Les Misérables," shared his experiences and insights into the world of professional theatre.

During the masterclass, Alex led a series of workshops focusing on acting techniques, vocal training, and audition preparation. Students had the chance to perform scenes and receive feedback from a seasoned professional, an experience that will surely inspire and enhance their craft. We are grateful to Alex for taking the time to mentor our students and help them grow as performers.

New Drama Club Formed: The DNA Thespians

To nurture the interest and talent of our students, the Performing Arts Drama Department has launched a new club: The DNA Thespians. This club is open to all students who have a passion for drama, whether they’re interested in acting, directing, stage management, or set design. The DNA Thespians will meet every Wednesday after school to engage in drama games, script readings, and improvisation exercises.

The club’s first project will be to organize a series of one-act plays that will be performed in November. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their skills and creativity in a supportive environment.

Behind the Scenes: New Set Design Workshop

Creating the perfect backdrop for our productions is an art form in itself, and this year, we are thrilled to offer a new Set Design Workshop for our drama students.

Led by our Art and Design faculty, this workshop will teach students the basics of set design, including concept development, model building, and painting techniques.

Students will get hands-on experience in creating sets for our upcoming productions, learning how to transform the stage into different worlds. This workshop not only enhances the visual impact of our shows but also provides students with valuable skills in design and teamwork.

Drama Department Receives Grant for New Equipment

We are pleased to announce that the DNA College Performing Arts Drama Department has been awarded a generous grant from the Cityville Arts Council. This funding will be used to purchase new lighting and sound equipment, which will greatly enhance the quality of our productions and provide students with experience using professional-grade technology.

We are incredibly grateful for this support, which will allow us to continue delivering high-quality performances and enriching our students' learning experiences.
