More than 200 educators from eight Catholic primary schools gathered at St Thomas More Catholic Primary School, Alfredton, for a day of professional learning, collaboration and shared commitment to improving literacy outcomes for students across the Diocese.
The Flare Primary Literacy Professional Learning Day brought together teachers, school leaders, principals and learning support staff to explore evidence-informed literacy practices, share expertise and strengthen the teaching of reading and writing in their classrooms.
The event provided a valuable opportunity for educators to learn alongside one another, exchange ideas and build on the collective work already taking place across DOBCEL schools. Throughout the day, participants engaged with current research and practical strategies designed to support every student to become a confident and capable reader, writer and learner.
There was a strong sense of energy and optimism as educators worked together towards a shared vision: ensuring every DOBCEL primary school graduate is confidently literate and equipped with the skills needed to thrive in learning and life.
The gathering highlighted the power of collaboration across Catholic education, demonstrating how schools can work together to achieve the best outcomes for students and create consistent, high-quality literacy teaching practices.
