St Colman's Catholic Primary School is a small rural school located in the heart of Mortlake in south-west Victoria. Established in 1881, our school has a long and proud history of providing Catholic education to local families and continues to be guided by the Mercy values that have shaped our community for generations. Today, our enrolments remain steady between 40 to 50 students, allowing us to provide a highly personalised and supportive learning environment.

At St Colman's, everything we do is grounded in our core values of Welcome, Learn, Care and Faith. We are deeply committed to the safety, wellbeing and dignity of every child, recognising each student as a unique individual created in the image of God.

As a small school, we know every child and every family. Our students are known, valued and supported to achieve success both academically and personally. We celebrate diversity and strive to create an inclusive environment where all children experience a genuine sense of belonging and are encouraged to be confident, compassionate and capable learners.

Our classrooms combine explicit, evidence-informed teaching practices with rich opportunities for creativity, collaboration and critical thinking. We hold high expectations for learning and behaviour, supporting students to develop the knowledge, skills and dispositions they need to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Strong partnerships between school and home are central to who we are. Families quickly become part of our welcoming community, where relationships matter and every member is encouraged to contribute to the life of the school.

Through our Catholic faith, positive behaviour supports and commitment to student wellbeing, we nurture the whole child – academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually – ensuring that every student has the opportunity to flourish.
