St Malachy’s Catholic Primary School is a small rural school in the West Wimmera Shire, where every child is known, valued and supported to reach their full potential. We provide a balanced and engaging curriculum, including a structured literacy program, while offering rich learning opportunities tailored to the needs of each student. Our Learning Support Officers work alongside teachers to provide one-on-one and small group support, as well as individualised learning plans where required.
At St Malachy’s, student wellbeing is at the heart of all we do, grounded in the Gospel values of faith, love, peace and hope. Our Social and Emotional Learning programs help students build resilience, confidence, empathy, co-operation and conflict resolution skills, fostering positive relationships and a strong sense of belonging.
We are committed to promoting healthy, active lifestyles through our daily fitness program, fruit breaks, hydration and regular physical activity. Students are encouraged to be active participants in both school and community life through service opportunities, local events and meaningful connections within our rural community
Our students are involved in a variety of activities designed to make our school more sustainable, including recycling, reducing waste, gardening, caring for our school chooks, and saving water and electricity. As part of our commitment to answering the call to care for all Creation, we are also working on our Laudato Si’ Action Plan, helping students grow in responsibility and stewardship of our common home. Students have ready access to class sets of laptop computers to enhance learning and technology skills.
